Kane Williamson picks his favorite Pakistan cricketers across eras

WELLINGTON: Former New Zealand captain Kane Williamson has shared his admiration for Pakistani cricketers from different generations in a recent podcast interview.

Reflecting on his childhood cricket inspirations, Williamson named legendary batters Mohammad Yousuf, Younis Khan, Shoaib Malik, and Inzamam-ul-Haq. “I loved watching Yousuf and Younis Khan. I was lucky to play with Shoaib Malik in T20s and learned a lot from him,” said the Kiwi icon. He also admired Inzamam-ul-Haq, though he only witnessed the latter part of the former captain’s career.

Talking about current players, Williamson praised Babar Azam, Mohammad Rizwan, and Fakhar Zaman. He had a special mention for Fakhar, calling him the “New Zealand destroyer” for his aggressive performances. “Fakhar smacks us all over the park whenever we face him,” he joked.

Williamson also picked his favorite players for iconic cricket shots: Babar Azam for the straight drive, Younis Khan for the sweep shot, and India’s Virat Kohli for the classic cover drive.

With over 15 years in international cricket, Williamson has carved out an illustrious career himself, with standout records in all three formats.
