PMD Warns of Intense Heatwave Across Pakistan During Eid Holidays

The Pakistan Meteorological Department (PMD) has alerted the public about a severe heatwave likely to grip the country during the Eid holidays.

Forecasts indicate that northern areas could see temperatures soar up to 7ยฐC above the seasonal average until June 12, while southern parts may face a rise of 4 to 6ยฐC above normal.

The PMD urged peopleโ€”particularly children, elderly individuals, and womenโ€”to take protective measures, avoid prolonged sun exposure, and stay well-hydrated.

Additionally, officials cautioned that the intense heat may speed up glacier melt, potentially affecting water flow in downstream regions.
