Egypt Postpones Mega Museum Launch Amid Middle East Crisis

Egypt

Egypt has pushed back the grand opening of its $1 billion Grand Egyptian Museum due to growing instability in the region sparked by the Iran-Israel conflict.

Originally set for July 3, the unveiling has now been delayed to late 2025. Officials from Egyptโ€™s Ministry of Tourism and Antiquities called the move a “national responsibility,” saying the museum deserves to open under calmer, more celebratory global conditions.

Located near the iconic Giza Pyramids, the museum is billed as the largest archaeological institution dedicated to a single civilisation. It will continue to allow partial visitor access until its official launch.
