Trump Administration Plans Major Expansion of Travel Ban, Pakistan Not Included

The Trump administration is preparing to expand its travel ban to include 36 additional countries, in what would be one of the most significant enlargements of the policy since its inception. Although the full list has yet to be made public, officials have confirmed that Pakistan is not among the nations facing these new restrictions.

This latest move underscores the administration’s continued emphasis on tightening immigration controls and border security. The original travel ban, introduced in 2017, faced widespread criticism and legal challenges for targeting predominantly Muslim-majority countries.

The updated ban is expected to focus on countries deemed to have insufficient security screening protocols or poor cooperation with US immigration enforcement. Homeland security officials say the goal is to mitigate perceived national security threats by limiting access to individuals from these regions.

While the policy is likely to face renewed scrutiny and legal review, administration sources maintain that national interest remains the top priority. The proposal is still in draft stages and may evolve in scope before official implementation.
