Pakistan’s star batter Babar Azam has landed a blockbuster contract with the Sydney Sixers, making him one of the highest-paid players in Big Bash League (BBL) history ahead of the 2025 season.
The former Pakistan captain’s deal reportedly exceeds the Platinum category base price, with sources confirming his salary will touch nearly PKR 10 crore—far above the standard PKR 7.75 crore benchmark. This marks a major milestone for Babar, who will be making his debut in the BBL.

The Sixers, allowed to pre-sign one overseas player ahead of the June 19 draft, snapped up Babar from the Platinum list. With over 11,000 T20 runs and more than 10,000 international runs across formats, his addition strengthens the Sixers’ bid for the BBL title.
Known for his elegance, composure, and consistency, Babar led Pakistan to the T20 World Cup semi-final in 2021 and final in 2022. His accolades include the ICC Men’s Cricketer of the Year (2022) and consecutive ICC ODI Cricketer of the Year awards in 2021 and 2022.
