Chief of Army Staff Field Marshal Asim Munir held a high-profile meeting with former U.S. President Donald Trump at the White House, marking a major development in Pakistan-U.S. relations. The engagement, confirmed by the Inter-Services Public Relations (ISPR), included a luncheon in the Cabinet Room and an extended discussion in the Oval Office.
Accompanied by U.S. Secretary of State Marco Rubio and Special Middle East Representative Steve Witkoff, the talks covered key regional and global issues—including the Iran-Israel conflict and the Pakistan-India dynamic. Trump lauded Pakistan’s counterterrorism efforts and praised Field Marshal Munir’s leadership during a time of regional volatility.

Both sides agreed to strengthen cooperation in counterterrorism, trade, technology, mineral exploration, artificial intelligence, and energy. Field Marshal Munir invited Trump to visit Pakistan and thanked him for the U.S.’s role in supporting the Pakistan-India ceasefire. The meeting, originally scheduled for one hour, lasted over two hours—underscoring its strategic importance.
