Punjab Police Tightens Security Ahead of Muharram Processions

Punjab Police has issued a detailed security advisory to ensure peace and order during the upcoming sacred month of Muharram, focusing on foolproof arrangements for religious gatherings and processions across the province.

Additional Inspector General (AIG) Operations Zahid Nawaz Marwat directed all senior officers, including the CCPO Lahore and field commanders, to maintain strict oversight and coordination with religious scholars, peace committees, and event organizers. He emphasized that no majalis or processions will be allowed outside of approved routes and designated areas.

Strict enforcement of the Loudspeaker Act has also been ordered, and Marwat warned that unauthorized use of drones during Muharram activities will lead to immediate legal action.

Regional, city, and district police officers have been tasked with personally monitoring security operations, while heightened measures are being put in place at mosques, imambargahs, and places of worship for minority communities.
