Israeli Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu announced on Tuesday morning that Israel has officially agreed to a ceasefire with Iran, following a proposal put forward by U.S. President Donald Trump.
In a statement issued by the Prime Minister’s Office, Netanyahu confirmed that Israel had accepted the ceasefire because it had successfully met all of its objectives in the military operation, named “Operation Rising Lion.”

“Through Operation Rising Lion, Israel has achieved historic and strategic victories, positioning itself among the world’s leading powers,” the statement declared.
Netanyahu emphasized that the campaign had eliminated what Israel considered dual existential threats from Iran—its nuclear program and its missile capabilities. The statement noted that Israel had neutralized both, significantly weakening Iran’s ability to pose future threats.
According to the Israeli government, the Israel Defense Forces (IDF) established full control over the skies above Tehran, delivered major blows to Iran’s military leadership, and destroyed multiple critical government facilities in the capital.
In the last 24 hours alone, Israel claimed to have carried out high-impact strikes deep within Tehran, killing hundreds of members of the Basij—described as part of Iran’s internal security forces—and reportedly eliminating a top Iranian nuclear scientist.
The Israeli government also expressed deep appreciation to President Trump and the United States for their cooperation and support, particularly in helping counter Iran’s nuclear ambitions.
“Now that our operational targets have been achieved, and in full collaboration with President Trump, Israel has accepted the ceasefire proposal,” the statement read.
Despite the ceasefire, Israeli authorities warned that any breach of the agreement by Iran would be met with a swift and forceful response. Citizens were advised to continue following safety protocols issued by the Home Front Command until it is confirmed that Iran is fully adhering to the ceasefire terms.
The statement concluded by calling Operation Rising Lion a decisive victory that not only secured Israel’s national security but also elevated its status on the global stage.
Prime Minister Netanyahu is expected to deliver a national address later in the day to further discuss the ceasefire and Israel’s next steps.
