Khyber Pakhtunkhwa’s Inspector General of Police (IGP), Zulfiqar Hameed, has confirmed that terrorist groups are using drones to carry out sabotage operations in the province, particularly targeting the merged tribal areas and southern districts.
While addressing the media, IGP Hameed stated that security forces have verified the use of drones by militants, describing it as a growing concern that poses serious threats to regional stability.

He noted that drone technology is being increasingly adopted worldwide, and warned that terrorist factions in Pakistan may expand their reliance on drones in the near future.
“The rising threat of drone use by terrorists must be taken seriously,” he said. “To ensure effective surveillance and quick response, every district police unit needs access to drone technology.” He also highlighted the importance of acquiring drones equipped for night-time operations to strengthen round-the-clock security measures.
IGP Hameed added that efforts are already underway to equip the police force with drones and expressed optimism that this essential capability gap would be filled soon.
