Israeli soldiers have allegedly been ordered to shoot unarmed Palestinians waiting for humanitarian aid in Gaza, according to a bombshell report published by Israeli newspaper Haaretz. The report, based on testimony from unnamed soldiers, claims they were directed by commanders to use lethal force against civilians who posed no apparent threat.
The allegations include instances of machine gun fire from tanks and the use of grenades against groups of aid-seekers, resulting in what one soldier described as a daily “killing field.” According to the testimony, between one and five people were killed every day in these operations. The incidents have sparked outrage and prompted an internal military investigation.

The Israeli military’s Fact-Finding Assessment Mechanism, under orders from the Military Advocate General, has begun reviewing whether the actions at these aid distribution points may constitute war crimes. However, top political leadership in Israel, including Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu and Defence Minister Israel Katz, have dismissed the report as “blood libel” against the Israel Defense Forces (IDF).
The Gaza Health Ministry reports a staggering toll from Israeli operations since October 2023, with at least 56,331 people killed and over 132,000 wounded. Meanwhile, international criticism continues to mount. U.N. Secretary-General Antonio Guterres recently condemned U.S.-backed aid operations in Gaza as “inherently unsafe,” warning that the militarization of aid is contributing to civilian deaths.
