In a heartbreaking turn of events, 19-year-old Tunisian girl Sanda Ayari has been left alone and helpless in Karachi after her Pakistani husband, Muhammad Amir, divorced her just seven months into their marriage.
The two reportedly met on Facebook, and Sanda arrived in Pakistan on a 90-day visit visa on November 28. They married the very next day, with their marriage officially registered in March. But the relationship quickly fell apart. After Amir divorced her, Sanda found herself without financial support or legal status, as her visa had expired in February.

Speaking to police, Sanda said, “I don’t even have money for my daily expenses,” and requested the Pakistani government to help her return to Tunisia. Authorities have since placed her in a women’s protection centre in Lyari.
Police confirmed Amir acknowledged the divorce and showed no interest in reconciliation. Though no allegations of abuse were made, the case has raised concerns over foreign women being abandoned after online marriages.
This incident closely follows the story of American woman Onijah Robinson, who also reportedly faced deception after travelling to Pakistan for love.
