Lahore's Jinnah Cardiology Centre Renamed in Honour of Maryam Nawaz

The Institute of Cardiovascular Diseases in Lahore, originally launched as an extension of Jinnah Hospital during the PTI era, has now been officially renamed after Punjab Chief Minister Maryam Nawaz.

Punjab Health Minister Khawaja Salman Rafique confirmed the change, stating that the provincial cabinet has approved the renaming. Going forward, the facility will be referred to as the Maryam Nawaz Institute of Cardiovascular Diseases in the provincial budget documents and all formal departmental records.

According to Rafique, the renaming signifies the institute’s shift from being an extension of Jinnah Hospital to becoming an independent and autonomous cardiac care centre. The decision aims to establish a separate identity for the institute, which will now operate outside the administrative control of Jinnah Hospital.

He also revealed that the centre will be equipped with cutting-edge medical technology, including AI-driven systems and robotic surgical tools, aligning it with international standards in cardiovascular treatment.

The minister added that the upgraded facility is expected to attract patients not only from within Pakistan but also internationally, offering advanced cardiac care services that meet global benchmarks.
