Three rare blackbucks were reported stolen from Jhang Wildlife Park during the night, raising serious questions about the park’s security and administrative oversight. The incident has prompted the Wildlife Department to launch a formal inquiry and register an FIR.
According to staff, the theft was discovered the following morning when workers arrived to feed the animals and found three female blackbucks missing from the enclosure. Officials stated that the park had a total of seven blackbucks, and the missing animals are valued at around Rs. 200,000 each.

The Director General of Wildlife has ordered a two-member inquiry committee to probe the matter, led by senior officer Dr. Misbah Sarwar. The committee has been tasked with submitting its findings within three days. Authorities have pledged strict action against those responsible, including disciplinary measures for any staff found negligent.
Sources have added another layer to the controversy, claiming that four animals—one male and three females—were actually stolen, contradicting the department’s official stance. Compounding the issue, the park’s senior staff were away for training at the time of the incident, and temporary workers under the now-expired Green Pakistan Programme were overseeing operations.
