Muharram 9 mourning processions were held across major cities of Pakistan on Saturday. Thousands of people participated in the events to honor the martyrdom of Hazrat Imam Hussain (RA) and his companions.

In Karachi, Lahore, and other parts of the country, strict security measures were in place. Mobile phone services were suspended in several sensitive areas to maintain peace and prevent any untoward incidents during the processions.

In Karachi, heavy police deployment was seen across all major routes. Thousands of officers were assigned to ensure safety. The main Muharram 9 procession started from Nishtar Park. A sermon was delivered by noted scholar Allama Shahenshah Hussain Naqvi. After the majlis, participants offered Zuhrain prayers. These were organized by the Imamia Students Organization.

The Karachi procession followed its traditional path through Numaish Chowrangi, Saddar, Radio Pakistan, Jama Cloth Market, and Denso Hall. It concluded at Hussainia Iranian Imambargah in Kharadar.

In Lahore, the main procession began from Pandu Street. Similar security arrangements were made. SP Dolphin Arsalan Zahid confirmed that Dolphin Force and PRU units were closely coordinating with Rescue 1122, the fire brigade, and Rescue 15. Special efforts were made to ensure the safety of women and children during the gatherings.

The Punjab government also suspended mobile and internet services in specific areas marked as sensitive. This was done to maintain public order and provide a peaceful environment during the observances.

Muharram 9 holds great significance in Islamic history, as it marks the sorrowful days leading up to the martyrdom of Imam Hussain (RA). People across Pakistan participated in processions, listened to religious sermons, and remembered the sacrifices made in Karbala.

Authorities continue to urge citizens to remain peaceful and cooperate with law enforcement for the remainder of the Muharram commemorations.
