Umar Amin Earns Surprise Call-Up to Pakistan Champions for WCL 2025

Middle-order batter Umar Amin is set to make his much-anticipated debut for Pakistan Champions in the 2025 World Championship of Legends (WCL), starting on July 18. His inclusion in the squad was confirmed through a social media post, which generated excitement among fans. The team shared a message that read: “2 days to go… and the squad is heating up Umar Amin is locked in — elegance, power, and class all in one frame.”

The WCL 2025 tournament kicks off with Pakistan Champions facing England Champions on July 18 at Edgbaston Stadium in Birmingham. This marks a significant moment for the team as they look to build on their performance from last year’s tournament.

Pakistan Champions will also see a change in leadership. Former captain Younis Khan has been replaced by Mohammad Hafeez, who will take charge of the team for the first time. Along with the leadership change, Misbah-ul-Haq has also been excluded from this year’s squad.

New additions to the squad include wicketkeeper-batter Sarfaraz Ahmed and left-arm pacer Rumman Raees, both of whom are expected to make valuable contributions. Meanwhile, experienced players like Shoaib Malik, Shahid Afridi, Sharjeel Khan, Wahab Riaz, and Sohail Tanvir have retained their spots.

The team’s schedule for the WCL 2025 was also confirmed via a social media post, which featured the tournament schedule and photos of the squad. The post read: “The map is set. The missions are locked. And Pakistan Champions are marching to conquer. Mark your calendars, pick your battle, rally your squad.”

Pakistan Champions had a strong run in the inaugural WCL, winning against Australia, West Indies, and India, and qualifying for the semi-finals. However, they fell short in the final against India, losing by five wickets. With a refreshed squad, they aim to go further this time and secure a win in the 2025 WCL.

The 2025 edition will once again feature retired cricket legends from six countries: Pakistan, India, Australia, England, South Africa, and the West Indies. One of the most anticipated matches of the league stage will be the India vs Pakistan clash on July 20 at Edgbaston.
