A tragic incident occurred on Thursday at Som Lalit School in Navrangpura when a Class 10 student jumped from the fourth floor of the school building. The 15-year-old girl succumbed to her injuries late at night while undergoing treatment in the hospital.
According to police reports, the incident took place at 12:27 PM. CCTV footage from the school captured the moments leading up to the jump.
The girl was seen walking into the lobby, twirling a keychain, before suddenly leaping over the railing. Her friend attempted to stop her, but unfortunately, was unsuccessful.
The student suffered serious injuries to her head, hand, and leg. She was immediately rushed to a private hospital in Navrangpura, where she was placed in the ICU. Despite efforts to shift her to another hospital, she passed away around 10:00 PM.
Inspector A A Desai from the Navrangpura police station confirmed that a case of accidental death has been filed, and further investigation is ongoing.
The young girl lived with her family in Naranpura, where her father runs an optician’s shop on Gandhi Road. The family had recently traveled to their native place in Rajasthan, and police plan to question them upon their return.
This tragic incident has left the school and the community in shock. Authorities are working to understand the circumstances surrounding the death of the Class 10 student and are awaiting further details from the family.
