Arrest Warrants Issued for Aleema Khan, PTI Leaders

ISLAMABAD: A major legal development has taken place in Pakistan’s political landscape. An Anti-Terrorism Court (ATC) in Islamabad has issued non-bailable arrest warrants for 50 key leaders of Pakistan Tehreek-e-Insaf (PTI).

The warrants were issued by Judge Abul Hasnat Zulqarnain in connection with a case registered at Karachi Company police station. The charges are related to events that have not been fully disclosed, but are believed to involve serious allegations under anti-terrorism laws.

Among the most prominent names on the list is Aleema Khan, the sister of PTI founder and former Prime Minister Imran Khan. Other senior PTI leaders facing arrest include Hammad Azhar, Sheikh Waqas Akram, Shandana Gulzar, Kanwal Shauzab, Shahid Khattak, and former party member Sher Afzal Marwat.

The list also features former President Dr. Arif Alvi and several other high-profile figures such as Simabia Tahir, Mashal Yousafzai, Shibli Faraz, Faisal Javed, Murad Saeed, Zulfi Bukhari, Raja Basharat, and Rauf Hassan.

Additional names include Sardar Mansoor Saleem, Colonel (Retd.) Shabbir Awan, Khadija Shah, Alia Hamza, Asad Qaiser, Omar Ayub, Zartaj Gul, Shahram Tarakai, Ajmal Sabir, and many more.

The action comes at a time when legal pressures on PTI are mounting. Earlier, the Election Commission of Pakistan (ECP) disqualified three PTI lawmakers after their convictions in May 9 riots cases.

The disqualified leaders include Senator Ejaz Chaudhry, Malik Ahmad Bhachar, and Ahmed Chattha. Their seats have been officially declared vacant by the ECP.

In a separate statement, PTI Chairman Barrister Gohar Ali Khan voiced concern over the possible disqualification of 39 more party members who are also linked to May 9-related cases.

The current wave of legal action against PTI leaders suggests a deepening crisis for the party, already facing challenges from multiple state institutions.

So far, there has been no official response from the PTI leadership regarding the latest arrest warrants.
