Strict security arrangements have been implemented nationwide, including in Karachi and Lahore, for the processions of Chehlum Hazrat Imam Hussain (RA) to ensure peace and safety.
The Chehlum Hazrat Imam Hussain (RA) and his companions is observed in the Islamic month of Safar with deep reverence. The day honors their ultimate sacrifices in the Battle of Karbala for the cause of Islam.
Mourning processions are being held in cities and towns across Pakistan to pay tribute to the martyrs of Karbala. Authorities have deployed thousands of security personnel to guard the processions, majalis, and surrounding areas.
Karachi
In Karachi, the main procession will begin at Nishtar Park and end at Imam Bargah Hussainia Iranian Kharadar. It will follow the traditional route via Numaish Chowrangi, Saddar, Empress Market, Regal Chowk, and M.A. Jinnah Road.
A total of 11,479 police officers and personnel are deployed for security in the city. The plan covers 642 Imambargahs, guarded by 1,113 officers, and 501 majalis, secured by 2,901 personnel.
Additionally, 108 mourning processions will be protected by 7,465 security staff. Roads near the central routes remain closed, and Nishtar Park has enhanced security.
Lahore
In Lahore, the main Chehlum procession starts from Haveli Alif Shah and concludes at Karbala Gamay Shah. This year, the event coincides with the final day of the Urs of Hazrat Data Ali Hajveri (RA).
Punjab Police has deployed over 37,000 personnel across the province for Chehlum security. In Lahore, more than 12,000 officers are managing 44 majalis and 14 processions. Province-wide, 644 majalis and 392 processions are planned, all under tight security.
Authorities have urged the public to cooperate with security teams to ensure a safe and peaceful Chehlum Hazrat Imam Hussain observance.
