Karachi Weather Forecast: Heavy Rain Expected Till Aug 22

Karachi Weather Forecast Heavy Rain Expected Till Aug 22

Monsoon rains have returned to Pakistan, affecting Karachi, Punjab, and Khyber Pakhtunkhwa with varying intensity. The changing weather has cooled down the heat but also created flooding in low-lying areas, disrupting normal life in several cities.

Karachi Braces for More Showers

The Pakistan Meteorological Department has predicted light to heavy rainfall in Karachi until August 22. A late-night drizzle on Sunday left parts of the city damp, while the sea breeze stopped, causing humidity to rise sharply.

Humidity levels in Karachi reached 78%, making the temperature feel hotter. The current temperature stands at 30ยฐC but feels like 35ยฐC due to moisture in the air. Winds are blowing slowly at 5 knots per hour, while daytime temperatures are expected to remain between 34ยฐC and 36ยฐC.

Punjab Sees Widespread Rainfall

In Punjab, several cities received showers that made the weather pleasant. Multan and nearby areas experienced light rainfall, with moderate temperatures predicted for the next two days.

However, heavy rainfall was reported in Attock, Layyah, Dunyapur, and Athara Hazari. Thunderstorms added to the intensity, flooding streets and fields. Rainwater collected in low-lying areas, while electricity outages caused further trouble for residents. Farmers expressed concern about possible crop damage due to excessive water.

Heavy Downpours in Khyber Pakhtunkhwa

Khyber Pakhtunkhwa also faced intense rainfall. Peshawar, Abbottabad, Landikotal, and Khyber received heavy showers with thunderstorms. In Peshawar, flooding in low-lying areas disrupted traffic and caused difficulties for daily commuters.

The Met Office has warned of intermittent rain in KP until August 21. Moderate flooding has been observed in several drains, particularly in Khyber and nearby towns. Abbottabadโ€™s Havelian area was hit by strong rainfall, leading to waterlogging on streets and inconvenience for locals.

The ongoing weather pattern is expected to continue over the next two days. Authorities have advised residents in flood-prone areas to stay cautious.
