CTD Foils Terror Plot in Hyderabad: Three Arrested with Explosives

CTD Foils Terror Plot in Hyderabad, 3 Arrested

The Counter-Terrorism Department (CTD) has successfully foiled a significant terror plot in Hyderabad, Sindh, by arresting three suspected militants and seizing a substantial cache of explosives. The operation, conducted in the early hours of Tuesday, targeted a hideout in Shamir Shoro Goth, near Qasimabad.

Arrests and Seizures

The detained individuals have been identified as Sarang alias Sohail Mirani, Mehran Mirani, and Balang Chang. According to CTD officials, the suspects are affiliated with the banned Sindhudesh Revolutionary Army (SRA), a separatist group active in the region. During the raid, authorities recovered a 5-kilogram bomb, three hand grenades, a pistol, and a list of potential targets. These materials were reportedly procured from online sources and stored at the residence of one of the suspects.

Intelligence Collaboration

The operation was the result of a coordinated effort between the CTD units of Karachi and Hyderabad, following an intelligence tip-off. The swift action prevented what could have been a devastating attack aimed at destabilizing public security in the area. The suspects are believed to have been involved in previous violent incidents in Sindh, including attacks on law enforcement facilities.

Ongoing Investigations

Following the arrests, the CTD has initiated a thorough investigation to uncover the full extent of the suspects’ activities and any potential links to other terrorist networks. Authorities are also examining the possibility of foreign funding and support for the SRA’s operations. The successful thwarting of this terror plot underscores the effectiveness of intelligence-sharing and inter-agency cooperation in combating terrorism.

The CTD’s proactive measures have been commended by local officials and residents, highlighting the importance of vigilance and prompt action in ensuring public safety.
