Chaos broke out at Milan’s Malpensa Airport after a man set fire to a check-in area in Terminal 1. The incident started when he lit a fire in a trash bin and then used a hammer to damage desks and information screens.
Security staff quickly responded to the scene. One Milan airport employee was injured while trying to stop the man. Emergency teams arrived soon after,
and the suspect was taken into custody. Firefighters managed to put out the flames before they could spread further.
Thick black smoke filled the terminal, causing panic among travelers. Some passengers ran from the area while airport authorities ordered a partial evacuation for safety reasons.
Thanks to the quick response, the fire was brought under control. While parts of the terminal were closed briefly, overall airport operations continued. However,
some flights were delayed or canceled due to the disruption.
Authorities confirmed that the situation is now under control. The motive behind the man’s actions is still being investigated.
