Police have confirmed the arrest of Shah Rees, the son of Aleema Khan and nephew of PTI founder Imran Khan, in connection with the May 9 cases.
DIG Investigation Syed Zeeshan Raza stated that the suspect was wanted in several cases linked to the May 9 incidents. He added that individuals involved in anti-state activities would not be given leniency. According to officials, Shah Rees will be presented before a court today (Friday).
Earlier, Aleema Khan had claimed that her son was abducted from their home by four armed, masked men. She explained that the intruders entered through the kitchen while Shah Rees was upstairs with his wife and father. She further alleged that the men also harassed household drivers during the incident.
A PTI spokesperson backed Aleema Khan’s statement, saying that armed men entered Shah Rees’ bedroom in front of his children. The spokesperson also alleged that he was assaulted before being taken away.
In contrast, Lahore police chief previously denied making any arrest, a statement also echoed by Prime Minister’s Political Adviser Rana Sanaullah. These contradictory claims have caused confusion regarding the nature of the arrest and the process followed.
The confirmation from DIG Investigation has now clarified the matter, but the circumstances surrounding the incident remain a subject of debate.
Aleema Khan’s statements, along with the police’s evolving position, highlight the tensions linked to the May 9 events. The case of Shah Rees adds another layer to the ongoing controversy, drawing strong reactions from political observers and party supporters alike.
