Shehbaz Sharif Leave For China SCO Summit, Xi Jinping Meeting, and Investment Push

Prime Minister Shehbaz Sharif departed for Tianjin, China, on Saturday for an official visit at the invitation of President Xi Jinping.

He is accompanied by Deputy Prime Minister Ishaq Dar, Information Minister Attaullah Tarar, and Adviser Tariq Fatemi. The visit aims to strengthen Pakistan-China relations across multiple sectors.

During his trip, Shehbaz Sharif will attend the 25th SCO Council of Heads of State Meeting in Tianjin. He is also scheduled to participate in Beijing’s commemoration of the 80th anniversary of the victory over Fascism in World War II.

The Prime Minister will hold important meetings with Chinese President Xi Jinping and Premier Li Qiang. These discussions are expected to cover trade, investment, and regional cooperation, with a focus on expanding bilateral ties between the two countries.

Shehbaz Sharif will also meet leading Chinese businessmen and corporate leaders. His agenda includes promoting economic cooperation and encouraging investment in Pakistan. Additionally, he will address the Pakistan-China B2B Investment Conference in Beijing, highlighting opportunities for collaboration in various sectors.

In a statement shared on his official X account, the Prime Minister said he looks forward to productive meetings with President Xi and other world leaders. He emphasized that the visit will focus on enhancing regional cooperation, strengthening multilateralism, and advancing shared goals of peace and prosperity.

The visit underlines Pakistan’s long-standing partnership with China, which is described as an β€œAll-Weather Strategic Cooperative Partnership.” Analysts believe the meetings could pave the way for new initiatives in infrastructure, trade, and energy cooperation.

With this visit, Shehbaz Sharif aims to deepen Pakistan’s diplomatic and economic engagement with China while reinforcing the importance of collective progress in the region.
