Colombia also celebrated qualification after defeating Bolivia 3-0 in Barranquilla. James Rodríguez, Jhon Córdoba, and Juan Fernando Quintero scored to end their winless run and secure the nation’s seventh appearance at the tournament.
Paraguay confirmed their return to the global stage with a 0-0 draw against Ecuador. The result placed them sixth in the South American standings, giving them a direct ticket to the 2026 edition. This will be Paraguay’s first World Cup since 2010.
With these results, six South American teams are now guaranteed to feature in the expanded 2026 World Cup. The qualification highlights Uruguay’s consistency, Colombia’s resurgence, and Paraguay’s long-awaited comeback.
