Senate Committee Should Look into Fake Nursing Affiliations and Certificates

Senator Rubina Khalid, chair of the Senate’s health subcommittee, has asked the Federal Investigation Agency (FIA) to look into nursing colleges that falsely claim affiliations with hospitals and fake certifications issued to nurses by institutions registered with the Pakistan Nursing Council (PNC).

The subcommittee voiced worry about the PNC’s irresponsibility and lack of readiness. They will send a letter to the federal health ministry expressing their concerns and recommending that the Prime Minister (PM) be informed about the situation.

Concerns were made regarding the absence of participation from the PNC and the government during a meeting held by Senator Rubina Khalid and attended by Senator Jam Mehtab Hussain Dahar and Senator Dr. Mehr Taj Roghani. Senator Khalid expressed surprise at the lack of representation, accusing the government and the PNC of working together to deceive the subcommittee.

The absence of PNC Chairman Rafat Jan was called into question, and it was revealed that she was attending an event at the Prime Minister’s office. However, the subcommittee learned that it was a generic invitation to a fundraiser event rather than a meeting invitation.

When they discovered that the IT in charge had been nominated to present instead of the chairman, the subcommittee expressed worries about the council’s objectives. They made the decision to refer the subject to the main committee for further action.

Furthermore, the subcommittee examined the working papers pertaining to hospital registrations with PNC and discovered them to be fake. They emphasised the need for clarification on certain registrations.
