Ukraine has accused Russian President Vladimir Putin of deliberately provoking NATO after drones were shot down in Polish airspace. Kyiv’s statement came following another night of Russian strikes targeting Ukrainian cities near the Polish border.
According to Polish officials, air defense systems intercepted multiple drones that crossed into their territory. The drones were destroyed before causing any damage or injuries. The incident immediately drew attention from Ukraine, which warned of Moscow’s broader strategy.
Ukrainian authorities declared that “Putin ‘testing the West’, Kyiv says after drones downed over Poland,” stressing that Russia is trying to measure NATO’s response. Officials in Kyiv warned that repeated incursions could destabilize the region and drag neighboring states further into the war.
Poland’s Ministry of Defense confirmed that it acted swiftly to protect its citizens and sovereignty. The government assured the public that its air defense network remains fully prepared to respond to any threats.
NATO has been monitoring such incidents closely. Alliance leaders have repeatedly warned Russia to respect international borders and avoid actions that could trigger escalation. So far, Poland has coordinated with allies to strengthen air defense near the frontier.
