PM Shehbaz Sharif Departs for Qatar to Condemn Israeli Strikes, Show Solidarity

Prime Minister Shehbaz Sharif departed for Doha on Thursday with a high-level delegation to express Pakistan’s solidarity with Qatar. The visit follows recent Israeli airstrikes on residential areas in the Qatari capital.

According to the Foreign Office, Shehbaz Sharif is accompanied by Deputy Prime Minister and Foreign Minister Ishaq Dar. The trip is described as a strong gesture of support, reaffirming Pakistan’s commitment to Qatar’s security, sovereignty, and territorial integrity.

During his stay in Doha, Shehbaz Sharif will meet Emir Sheikh Tamim bin Hamad Al Thani. He is expected to convey Pakistan’s deep sympathies and support for the leadership and people of Qatar during this difficult time.

The visit comes after Israel launched airstrikes targeting Hamas officials in Doha, which killed at least seven people. The attack has drawn sharp criticism from across the Arab world.

Qatar’s Prime Minister Sheikh Mohammed bin Abdulrahman bin Jassim Al Thani strongly condemned the strikes, calling them reckless and destabilizing. He warned that the assault had endangered the security of the entire Gulf region.

“There is a response that will happen from the region. This response is currently under consultation and discussion with other partners,” Sheikh Mohammed said while addressing reporters.

He accused Israeli Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu of dragging the region into “chaos” and urged a collective stance from Arab and Islamic nations to counter the threat.

Shehbaz Sharif’s visit reflects Pakistan’s longstanding support for Gulf countries and its call for peace and stability in the region. The prime minister’s presence in Doha underlines Islamabad’s close ties with Qatar and its rejection of actions that undermine regional security.
