KARACHI – A shocking case has surfaced in which Sindh police booked a three-year-old boy on charges of issuing death threats, house trespassing, and theft. The child, along with his three elder brothers, was granted bail by the court.
According to reports, Sindh police registered an FIR that named little Rahimullah, aged three, as an accused in the case. The charges included issuing threats, stealing valuables, and forced entry into a house.
The hearing was held at the Additional District and Sessions Court in Malir. Judge Zulfiqar Memon expressed surprise when the defense counsel, Advocate Atta Muhammad Khan, presented the accused in court. Holding the toddler in his arms, the lawyer said, “This is the criminal according to the police FIR.”
The courtroom reacted with disbelief, as the FIR alleged that the minor, along with his brothers, stole Rs90,000 in cash, a generator, and heavy pipes. The charges also included harassment and trespassing.
The defense lawyer clarified that the FIR was registered following a judicial order but suggested that the child’s age had been misunderstood. He added that the elder brothers, who live in Quetta, were also wrongly implicated, possibly due to personal enmity.
Judge Memon questioned how a three-year-old could commit such crimes and expressed regret over the police action. The court granted interim bail to Rahimullah against a bond of Rs5,000, while his brothers received bail set at Rs10,000 each.
The case has raised serious concerns about police procedure and accountability. The court has summoned the investigating officer along with the full case record at the next hearing scheduled for September 15.
This unusual case highlights growing concerns about errors and misuse of FIRs by Sindh police, sparking debate about justice and accountability.
