FBI releases photos, video of suspect in Charlie Kirk shooting

OREM, Utah  The FBI has released photos and video of a person of interest in the fatal shooting of conservative activist Charlie Kirk. Authorities also confirmed they have recovered the rifle believed to have been used in the attack

On September 10, 2025, Charlie Kirk was speaking at Utah Valley University in Orem, Utah when he was shot. He was addressing a crowd of about 3,000 people outdoors during an event. 

The shot came from a rooftop some distance from where he spoke. Kirk was struck in the neck and later died.

The FBI, along with Utah state officials, have shared surveillance images and video of a person of interest.

Is seen climbing onto a rooftop, firing the shot, then jumping down and fleeing the scene

Investigators recovered a high-powered bolt-action rifle believed to be the murder weapon. It was found in a wooded area near the university. 

They also collected physical evidence from the scene:

Footwear impressionsForearm imprints. A palm print.
Officials say the suspect appears to be of college age

The FBI has offered a $100,000 reward for information that leads to identifying and arresting the person responsible.

Authorities have received thousands of tips. More than 7,000 leads have been submitted so far. 

Utah Governor Spencer Cox and FBI officials stressed the importance of public help

The suspect has not yet been identified and is still being sought.
Investigators have not publicly confirmed a motive.
Some details of the rifle and ammunition, including possible inscriptions or markings, are not yet verified or released.

Charlie Kirk was a well-known conservative activist and commentator. His death has drawn national attention. 

The shooting has led to debate about political violence in America. Many officials, across parties, condemned the attack.
