PEMRA Breaks Silence on Complaints Against Ayesha Omar’s Show ‘Lazawaal Ishq’

PEMRA Breaks Silence on Complaints Against Ayesha Omar’s Show 'Lazawaal Ishq'

ISLAMABAD – The Pakistan Electronic Media Regulatory Authority (PEMRA) has issued a clarification after receiving several complaints regarding Pakistan’s first-ever Urdu-language dating reality show, Lazawaal Ishq, hosted by actress Ayesha Omar.

In its official statement, PEMRA confirmed that it had received multiple complaints through social media platforms. However, the authority made it clear that the show does not fall under its jurisdiction.

According to PEMRA, its rules and regulations apply only to licensed television channels within Pakistan, not to programs streamed on digital or social media platforms.

The statement came after Lazawaal Ishq generated heated debates online. The upcoming show, inspired by the Turkish series Aşk Adasi, features four men and four women living together in a luxurious villa for 100 episodes.

The format includes challenges, dramatic twists, and moments of romance, drawing comparisons with global reality shows like The Bachelor and Love Island.

Ayesha Omar recently shared a glamorous teaser of Lazawaal Ishq on her social media accounts. Dressed in an elegant white gown aboard a yacht, she teased viewers with the caption, “This show is unlike anything you’ve ever seen before!”

She further described it as a journey about finding eternal love and the lessons learned along the way, shot against the stunning backdrop of Istanbul’s Bosphorus.

Known for her versatility, Ayesha Omar has already made a mark as both an actress and a host. From youth-oriented programs such as Hot Chocolate and Rhythm to her iconic role in the comedy series Bulbulay, she remains one of Pakistan’s most recognized faces.

With Lazawaal Ishq, Ayesha is stepping into new territory by hosting a dating reality show, a concept still new for Pakistani audiences. Despite online criticism, fans are eager to witness how the show will blend glamour, drama, and romance in a way never seen before.

PEMRA’s clarification has ended speculation regarding its role in regulating the show, highlighting that digital platforms remain outside its scope.
