Clayton Kershaw Announces Retirement from Baseball

Clayton Kershaw

Clayton Kershaw has officially announced that he will retire at the end of the 2025 MLB season. The Los Angeles Dodgers pitcher shared his decision in front of fans and media at Dodger Stadium. His statement marked the end of one of baseball’s greatest careers.

Kershaw has played 18 seasons in Major League Baseball, all with the Dodgers. He never changed teams, becoming one of the few players in modern baseball to spend his entire career with a single franchise. His loyalty and consistency have made him an icon of the sport.

Over the years, Clayton Kershaw earned many awards and titles. He won the Cy Young Award three times and was named National League MVP in 2014. His remarkable ERA ranks among the best of all active pitchers. This season, despite age and injuries, he still managed a 10-2 record with a 3.53 ERA.

A major highlight came earlier this year when Kershaw reached 3,000 career strikeouts. He became only the 20th pitcher in MLB history, and the fourth left-hander, to achieve this milestone. The achievement further confirmed his place among the game’s legends.

Clayton Kershaw also led the Dodgers to two World Series titles in 2020 and 2024. He was selected to 11 All-Star teams during his career. Beyond his numbers, he was admired for his leadership and charitable work off the field.

The left-hander’s final regular-season home game will be emotional for both him and fans. While he may still pitch in the playoffs, his farewell has already begun. Kershaw said he is ready to step away to spend more time with family.

With his retirement, Clayton Kershaw leaves behind a lasting legacy. Many believe his induction into the Baseball Hall of Fame is only a matter of time.
