Special Assistant to the Prime Minister on Industries and Production, Haroon Akhtar Khan, chaired a high-level meeting on Friday with the CEOs of the Technology Upgradation and Skill Development Company (TUSDEC) and the Pakistan Industrial Technical Assistance Centre (PITAC).
During the meeting, he outlined several initiatives aimed at shaping Pakistanβs Industrial Future. These include a Mining and Mineral Processing Technology Centre, a Women Digital Skills Development Centre, and an Artificial Intelligence and Digital Twin Centre. The projects align with the vision of Prime Minister Shehbaz Sharif to modernize Pakistanβs industrial and technological sectors.
The SAPM also highlighted the need for Seafood Processing, Packaging, and Storage Plants, along with modern abattoirs and meat processing facilities across the country. He stressed that PITAC and TUSDEC should study advanced international models and apply those technologies locally to strengthen Pakistanβs competitiveness.
Referring to his visits abroad, Haroon Akhtar Khan said that he had observed impressive Artificial Intelligence institutes in developed nations. He urged PITAC to bring such expertise to Pakistan, noting that global advancements in AI must be matched to secure Pakistanβs Industrial Future.
He pointed out examples from Uzbekistanβs Techno Park, such as solar water heaters and prepaid gas and electricity systems, suggesting that similar innovations could be adapted in Pakistan. To further boost industrial innovation, a Research and Development Centre will also be set up in Gujranwala.
Acknowledging PITACβs training efforts, Haroon Akhtar Khan praised the introduction of modern skill courses, including English language training, to prepare students for international opportunities. He emphasized that skill development is crucial for both men and women to thrive in the global job market.
Concluding the session, he announced plans to personally meet PITAC students excelling in training, appreciating their role in building Pakistanβs Industrial Future.
