Chelsea Fight Back to Beat Lincoln City 2-1 in Carabao Cup

Chelsea

Chelsea secured a place in the Carabao Cup fourth round with a hard-fought 2-1 comeback win over Lincoln City. The Blues looked unsettled early but responded strongly after halftime to turn the tie around.

Lincoln City surprised Chelsea by taking the lead just before the break. Rob Street found space in the box and finished well, giving the League One side hope of an upset.

Chelsea, however, showed their quality in the second half. Within minutes of the restart, Tyrique George struck a stunning equaliser. His half-volley flew in off the post, lifting Chelsea’s confidence.

Only two minutes later, Facundo Buonanotte put Chelsea ahead. The young midfielder dribbled past defenders and calmly slotted home his first goal for the club. His strike proved decisive, as the Blues held firm to secure the win.

Despite the victory, Chelsea had some nervy moments. Their goalkeeper clashed with defender Wesley Fofana during an early clearance, leaving the defender needing treatment. Although Fofana continued, the incident raised concerns about defensive communication.

Chelsea’s manager rotated the squad, giving several young players opportunities. The mix of youth and experience was enough to see them through, but the performance also showed areas needing improvement.

The result comes as a relief after recent setbacks in both the Premier League and Champions League. Progress in the Carabao Cup offers Chelsea a chance to build momentum and restore confidence within the squad.

Looking ahead, Chelsea will return to league action with hopes of finding consistency. The Carabao Cup win, though not flawless, provides belief as they push forward in a challenging season.

In summary, Chelsea came from behind to beat Lincoln City 2-1. Goals from George and Buonanotte sealed the comeback, helping Chelsea advance in the Carabao Cup.
