India secured a dramatic win over Sri Lanka in the Asia Cup Super Four stage. The match, played in Dubai, went into a Super Over after both teams scored 202 runs each. Despite being a dead rubber in terms of qualification, the game produced one of the most exciting finishes of the tournament.
Batting first, India posted 202 for 5 in 20 overs. Abhishek Sharma played a quick knock of 61 runs from 31 balls. Tilak Varma added 49 not out, while Sanju Samson chipped in with 39. The batting unit gave India a strong total to defend.
Sri Lanka responded with a brilliant chase. Pathum Nissanka struck a magnificent 107 from 58 balls. He found support from Kusal Perera, who scored 58 off 32 deliveries. Their partnership kept Sri Lanka in the hunt until the final over. With five wickets down, they managed to equal India’s score and forced the game into a Super Over.
In the Super Over, Arshdeep Singh bowled with precision for India. He dismissed both Sri Lankan batters and restricted them to just 2 runs. Chasing three runs for victory, Suryakumar Yadav sealed the result with a boundary on the first ball.
The match also had controversy. Dasun Shanaka was initially given out caught behind, but a review overturned the decision after replays showed no edge. Despite the drama, Sri Lanka could not carry the momentum into the Super Over.
With this win, India maintained their unbeaten run in the tournament. They now prepare for the final clash against Pakistan. For Sri Lanka, the loss confirmed their exit, but their batting performance, especially Nissanka’s century, stood out as a highlight.
