iPhone Air or Stick With Your Current Model? Here’s What to Know

Apple has replaced its “Plus” series with the slimmer iPhone Air, sparking debate among buyers. The question many are asking is simple: should you choose the iPhone Air or stick with your current model’?

The iPhone Air is Apple’s thinnest phone ever, measuring just 5.64mm compared to the 7.8mm iPhone 16 Plus. At 165 grams, it is also significantly lighter than last year’s 199-gram model. This sleek frame makes it comfortable to hold, and Apple has also introduced a new horizontal camera block for better balance. Available in Sky Blue, Light Gold, Cloud White, and Space Black, the Air offers a more elegant look than last year’s bold colors.

The display is slightly smaller at 6.55 inches, down from 6.69, but upgrades compensate. The Air features ProMotion, an Always-On display, and 3,000 nits of brightness with anti-reflective coating. These improvements make the screen smoother, sharper, and easier to view in sunlight.

Performance is another highlight. Powered by the A19 Pro chip and 12GB RAM, Apple promises “MacBook Pro-level performance.” Gaming and AI tasks run faster, while storage now starts at 256GB. However, the loss of a cheaper 128GB option raises the entry price.

To achieve its slim design, Apple sacrificed the ultra-wide camera and Cinematic Mode. The Air comes with a single 48MP wide lens, though the front camera adds new Center Stage technology for smarter video calls. Battery life is respectable at 27 hours of offline playback, and charging speeds have improved.

In Pakistan, prices are a major hurdle. Non-PTA approved iPhone Air units are being sold for up to Rs400,000. With PTA approval, buyers may face even higher costs, pushing many to reconsider whether to buy the iPhone Air or stick with your current model’.

For users who prioritize design and performance, the Air is a tempting choice. But for photography fans or those seeking better value, staying with an older model or upgrading to a Pro may be wiser. In short, deciding on the iPhone Air or stick with your current model’ depends on what matters most to you.
