Security Forces Kill 17 Indian-Sponsored Khawarij In Khyber Pakhtunkhwa

At least 17 Indian-sponsored Khawarij were killed in a joint operation by security forces and police along the border of Karak and Lakki Marwat districts, the military’s media wing confirmed on Saturday.

According to the Inter-Services Public Relations (ISPR), weapons and ammunition were recovered from the militants. The security forces carried out intelligence-based operations (IBOs) in Lakki Marwat after receiving reports about the presence of Indian-backed Khawarij in the area.

A simultaneous operation was conducted in Darsha Khel of Karak, within Shah Saleem police station’s jurisdiction. The IBO targeted a group of 22 militants linked to the Mullah Nazir faction. The security forces encircled the group with precise planning, leading to the elimination of 17 militants. Weapons and explosives were seized during the operation.

The ISPR stated that the slain Khawarij had been involved in multiple terror attacks against civilians and security forces in the region. Operations are ongoing to neutralize any remaining militants. The military emphasized its commitment to eradicating terrorism from the country.

Prime Minister Shehbaz Sharif paid tribute to the security forces for their professionalism and timely action. He also prayed for the speedy recovery of injured personnel. The PM noted that the Khawarij’s plans were foiled due to the expertise of the security institutions and reaffirmed the government’s determination to eliminate terrorism entirely.

Recent operations show a consistent effort by Pakistan’s security institutions. On September 21, seven Khawarij, including two suicide bombers, were killed in Dera Ismail Khan’s Kalachi area. Earlier, 19 militants were neutralized in North Waziristan, Mohmand, and Bannu during IBOs on September 9 and 10.

The series of successful operations underscores the resolve of the security forces to protect citizens and maintain stability in Pakistan’s border regions. Authorities remain vigilant against any militant resurgence.
