The Pakistan Cricket Board (PCB) has suspended all No Objection Certificates (NOCs) for national players to join foreign leagues. The decision will remain in place until further notice.
According to PCB, the move is part of a broader policy shift toward performance-based accountability. From now on, approvals for players to feature in overseas leagues will be tied directly to their performance benchmarks.
Players who meet the required standards in both international and domestic cricket will be granted clearance. Those who fall short will instead be asked to focus on training at the National Cricket Academy (NCA). The board stressed that this system aims to ensure fitness, form, and commitment to national duty.
Officials highlighted that the new approach reflects PCBโs priority to put cricket performance at the center of all decisions. The aim is to balance participation in franchise leagues with Pakistanโs international commitments.
PCB also noted that the training programs at the NCA will help players improve their skills and regain form before being reconsidered for NOCs. This ensures that only players who demonstrate consistent performance represent the country abroad.
The cricket board has taken similar steps in the past to emphasize discipline and national responsibility. However, this policy signals a stronger focus on long-term planning and player development.
Analysts believe the move will encourage cricketers to take domestic and international games more seriously, as their league opportunities will now depend on performance. It also shows the boardโs intent to give priority to national duty over commercial contracts.
With this decision, the PCB has underlined its commitment to strengthening Pakistan cricket by holding players accountable and ensuring the teamโs competitiveness at the global level.
