Pakistan Reaffirms Commitment To Gaza Peace Plan

Deputy Prime Minister and Foreign Minister Ishaq Dar has reaffirmed Pakistan’s long-standing position on Palestine while addressing the National Assembly. He said Pakistan remains committed to the vision of Quaid-e-Azam Muhammad Ali Jinnah, making it clear that US President Donald Trump’s proposal is not identical to Pakistan’s stance.

Earlier, Prime Minister Shehbaz Sharif expressed full support for the Gaza peace plan, saying that a peaceful resolution of the conflict was vital for regional stability and growth. He stressed that only a genuine and fair process could bring lasting peace.

Dar highlighted that peace in Gaza could not be achieved through rhetoric alone but required concrete and collective actions. He recalled that Prime Minister Shehbaz had already raised the issues of Palestine, Kashmir, climate change, and Israeli aggression in his speech at the UN General Assembly.

According to Dar, Muslim states had engaged Washington in backchannel meetings to push for an end to the violence. He confirmed that leaders from Pakistan, Turkey, Saudi Arabia, Egypt, Qatar, Jordan, Indonesia, and the UAE submitted a joint draft that differed from Trump’s plan.

The deputy prime minister noted that the Muslim bloc’s statement welcomed efforts to stop the war but strongly rejected any Israeli annexation of the West Bank. It also called for humanitarian aid access, the safe return of displaced Palestinians, the release of hostages, Israeli withdrawal, and the revival of the two-state solution.

Dar clarified that Pakistan’s policy continues to support the two-state solution with East Jerusalem as the Palestinian capital. He also shared concerns about the Gaza-bound flotilla, where nearly half of the 45 boats had been seized and passengers, including former senator Mushtaq Ahmed Khan, detained.

Pakistan has reached out to European partners to ensure the safe release of detained Pakistanis. Dar reaffirmed that Islamabad will continue to back international and regional initiatives tied to the Gaza peace plan, while rejecting any misinterpretation of Pakistan’s role.
