In a significant breakthrough, the main suspect in the high-profile Ameer Balaj Tipu murder case, Khawaja Tareef Gulshan, better known as Teefi Butt, has been arrested in Dubai. According to police officials, Teefi Butt was apprehended with the help of Interpol and will soon be extradited to Pakistan to face legal proceedings.
Sources revealed that Teefi Butt had been on the run since being named the primary accused in the targeted killing of Ameer Balaj Tipu, son of the late Arif Ameer, also known as Tipu Truckanwala. A dedicated team of Punjab Police, working in coordination with Interpol, successfully traced his location in Dubai after months of investigation.
Authorities confirmed that the formal process to bring Teefi Butt back to Pakistan is underway and expected to conclude soon. His arrest marks a crucial step forward in resolving the high-profile case that has gripped Lahore’s crime scene since early 2024.
Meanwhile, his cousin and co-accused, Khawaja Aqeel, also known as Gogi Butt, has already secured interim bail. The Lahore district court extended his pre-arrest bail and directed him to cooperate fully with investigators at the Chung Police Station.
The case revolves around the brutal murder of Ameer Balaj Tipu on February 19, 2024, during a wedding event in Lahore’s Chuhng area. Police reports state that Balaj was fatally shot by an assailant who was later killed in retaliatory fire.
Both Teefi Butt and Gogi Butt were declared proclaimed offenders in March last year after evading arrest. The Joint Investigation Team (JIT) later identified them as key planners in the murder.
Investigators alleged that Gogi Butt maintained regular contact with Teefi Butt and played an active role in orchestrating the attack.
Police officials have expressed confidence that with Teefi Butt’s extradition, the investigation will move closer to delivering justice in the Ameer Balaj Tipu murder case.
