The Government of Pakistan is actively working to bring back former senator Mushtaq Ahmad, who is currently in Israeli custody after participating in the Samud flotilla. The Foreign Office (FO) confirmed ongoing efforts on Monday.
The FO spokesperson stated that Pakistan is coordinating through its embassy in Oman and international partners, with crucial support from the Jordanian government. Officials hope the process to bring back former senator Ahmad will be completed in the coming days.
βWe are sincerely grateful to the Jordanian government for its exemplary cooperation,β the spokesperson said. Authorities also confirmed that Mushtaq Ahmad is βsafe and soundβ while in Israeli custody and will be presented before a local court as per Israeli law. Once a deportation order is issued, repatriation will begin immediately.
The FO emphasized that Pakistan is committed to the welfare of its citizens abroad. It called the detentions of Pakistani nationals during the Samud flotilla mission βillegalβ and assured the public that efforts are underway for the βsafe and immediate returnβ of all detained Pakistanis.
Critical information regarding the detained citizens, including Senator Ahmad, was obtained through diplomatic channels in a European country. The government has already ensured the safe return of several other Pakistanis from the mission and expressed gratitude to countries that facilitated their release.
Political observers note that the move to bring back former senator Mushtaq Ahmad highlights Pakistanβs focus on protecting its nationals abroad and maintaining strong diplomatic relations. The FO reiterated that safeguarding Pakistani citizens remains a top priority.
As Pakistan continues to negotiate through diplomatic channels, officials remain hopeful that Mushtaq Ahmad will soon return home safely, bringing relief to his family, political colleagues, and supporters across the country.
