Pakistanβs security forces carried out a successful intelligence-based operation (IBO) in Dera Ismail Khan, killing seven terrorists belonging to the Indian-backed proxy group Fitnat-ul-Khawarij, the Inter-Services Public Relations (ISPR) confirmed on Thursday.
According to ISPR, the operation was launched following confirmed intelligence about the presence of militants in the Daraban area of Dera Ismail Khan. These terrorists were reportedly involved in several attacks targeting both civilians and security forces in recent months.
During the operation, security forces engaged in an intense exchange of fire with the militants, resulting in the deaths of seven terrorists. All of them were members of the proscribed organization Fitnat-ul-Khawarij, which has been responsible for multiple violent incidents in the region. The ISPR stated that the elimination of these individuals marks a significant achievement in the ongoing fight against terrorism.
Troops also recovered a large cache of weapons and ammunition from the slain terrorists, preventing possible future attacks in the area.
In the line of duty, Major Sibtain Haider, aged 30, embraced martyrdom while leading his team from the front. Hailing from Quetta district, Major Sibtainβs bravery and leadership were honored by the ISPR, which paid rich tribute to his sacrifice for the nationβs security.
Following the encounter, a clearance operation was launched to eliminate any remaining terrorists or their facilitators in nearby areas. The ISPR reaffirmed that Pakistanβs security forces remain committed to eradicating terrorism in all its forms and ensuring lasting peace.
βThe operation demonstrates the unwavering resolve of Pakistanβs security forces to eliminate the menace of terrorism from the country,β the ISPR statement concluded. βNo group threatening national stability will be spared.β
