Sharjah International Book Fair 2025 Set to Host 2,350 Publishers from 118 Countries

SHARJAH – The 44th edition of the Sharjah International Book Fair will open on November 5 at the Expo Centre Sharjah, welcoming 2,350 publishers and exhibitors from 118 countries. Organised by the Sharjah Book Authority (SBA), the 12-day event will run under the theme β€œBetween You and a Book.”

The Sharjah International Book Fair 2025 will feature more than 1,200 events, including interactive sessions, panel discussions, and performances. Around 250 international guests from 66 nations, including authors, artists, and intellectuals, are expected to participate.

Ahmed bin Rakkad Al Ameri, CEO of the Sharjah Book Authority, said the fair reflects the vision of His Highness Sheikh Dr Sultan bin Mohammed Al Qasimi, Supreme Council Member and Ruler of Sharjah. He highlighted that the event promotes books as a bridge between cultures and civilizations.

This year, Greece has been named the Guest of Honour. A 70-member Greek delegation will present a cultural programme featuring literature, music, and art. The Greek National Pavilion will display 600 titles from 58 publishers and host several workshops and culinary sessions celebrating Hellenic culture.

The Sharjah International Book Fair will also introduce several new features. These include a β€œPop-Up Academy” for interactive talks, the UK’s β€œPoetry Pharmacy” offering poetic β€œprescriptions,” and a β€œPodcast Station” showcasing popular Arabic shows like Asmar and Karakpodcast.

Additionally, the event will host a Thriller Festival in collaboration with Thriller Festival New York, featuring authors such as Omar Shahid Hamid, Ragnar JΓ³nasson, and Jennifer Hillier.

Renowned international writers including Chimamanda Ngozi Adichie, Prof Carlo Rovelli, and Dr Julie Smith will also attend.

Professional events like the 15th Sharjah Publishers Conference and the 12th Sharjah International Library Conference will support the global publishing and library sectors.

To ensure accessibility, shuttle services will run between Dubai and Sharjah, with additional parking at Al Qasba and Sharjah Aquarium.

The Sharjah International Book Fair continues to strengthen Sharjah’s position as a global hub for knowledge, creativity, and cultural exchange.
