Pakistan’s Naval chief, Admiral Naveed Ashraf, has reaffirmed the country’s strong commitment to maritime cooperation with the United States. His official visit to the US underscored the growing defence ties between the two nations, according to a statement by the Inter Services Public Relations (ISPR).
The visit aimed to strengthen professional collaboration and regional maritime security. During his stay, the Naval chief held important meetings with senior American officials, including US Deputy Chief of Naval Operations Vice Admiral Yvette Davids and Acting Vice Commandant of the US Coast Guard Vice Admiral Thomas G. Allan Jr.
Both sides discussed regional security, maritime cooperation, and professional training opportunities. The discussions reflected the shared interest in maintaining peace and stability in the Indo-Pacific and Arabian Sea regions.
Admiral Ashraf also visited the National Defence University (NDU) at Fort Lesley J. McNair, where he met with the university’s president, Vice Admiral Peter A. Garvin. According to ISPR, the meeting focused on maritime capacity building, politico-military cooperation, and shared security goals.
The Naval chief further met with Stanley L. Brown, the US Deputy Assistant Secretary of State for Political-Military Affairs. He also addressed US scholars and think-tank representatives, highlighting Pakistan Navy’s role in promoting collective maritime security and countering regional challenges.
In its statement, ISPR said the visit “reflects the enduring defence ties between Pakistan and the United States and reaffirms the mutual commitment to strengthening maritime security in the region.”
The development follows several recent interactions between the two countries’ armed forces. In September, the US Navy ship USS Wayne E. Meyer made a two-day port call in Karachi, marking another step in long-standing naval cooperation.
Admiral Naveed Ashraf’s visit demonstrates Pakistan’s ongoing efforts to enhance international maritime partnerships and its commitment to regional peace through collaborative engagement.
