120 Players to Get Free Schooling Under PCBโ€™s New Education Drive

120 Players to Get Free Schooling Under PCBโ€™s New Education Drive

In a landmark move aimed at fostering both academic and athletic excellence, the Pakistan Cricket Board (PCB) has signed a three-year partnership with the Beaconhouse School System to provide free education to 120 emerging cricketers across the country.

The initiative, which will run from July 31, 2025, to July 31, 2028, seeks to ensure that Pakistanโ€™s next generation of cricketing talent can pursue their academic dreams alongside their sporting careersโ€”without any financial burden.

A Step Toward Holistic Development

Under the agreement, Beaconhouse will grant full educational scholarships to selected players from the U15, U17, and U19 categories across Pakistanโ€™s 16 regional cricket associations.
The selection process was based strictly on merit and regional performance in age-group competitions.

The signing ceremony took place at Gaddafi Stadium, Lahore, and was attended by PCB Chairman Mohsin Naqvi, COO Sumair Ahmed Syed, white-ball head coach Mike Hesson, and senior PCB officials.

A Vision for Educated Athletes

Speaking at the event, Chairman Mohsin Naqvi hailed the collaboration as โ€œa landmark initiative that blends education with sport.โ€ He emphasized that the program aligns with the PCBโ€™s long-term player development strategy, which focuses on producing well-rounded individualsโ€”athletes who can thrive both on and off the field.

โ€œThis partnership ensures that our young cricketers not only represent Pakistan with pride but also receive the education needed to shape their personal and professional futures,โ€

The PCB confirmed that the list of 120 players eligible for the scholarship program has already been submitted to Beaconhouse. The education coverage includes academic tuition, learning materials, and related fees, ensuring full access to quality education.

Building Futures Beyond the Boundary

This initiative underscores the PCBโ€™s commitment to building a sustainable cricketing ecosystem that values education, discipline, and life skills as much as sporting excellence.
The program mirrors successful youth models from Australia, England, and New Zealand, where academic support plays a crucial role in athlete development.

By integrating education into player development, the PCB aims to equip young cricketers with tools for life beyond cricket, helping them manage finances, handle public responsibilities, and transition smoothly after their sporting careers.

Strengthening Pakistanโ€™s Cricketing Ecosystem

Officials believe the collaboration with Beaconhouse will serve as a blueprint for future partnerships with educational institutions nationwide. The PCB also plans to expand the program to include vocational and skill-based courses in the coming years.

This initiative marks yet another step in the PCBโ€™s efforts to modernize Pakistanโ€™s sports infrastructure and nurture socially responsible athletes capable of contributing meaningfully to society.
