The Pakistan Cricket Board (PCB) has issued a Multan Sultans termination notice, raising serious concerns over the franchiseβs alleged breach of contractual terms. According to sources cited by ARY News on Thursday, the team faces potential removal from the Pakistan Super League (PSL) if it fails to respond within the specified deadline.
The Multan Sultans termination notice reportedly accuses the franchise of repeatedly violating its contractual obligations and damaging the reputation of the PSL. The PCB has also raised questions about the teamβs conduct and internal practices.
Sources claimed that the teamβs owner allegedly encouraged aggressive on-field behavior, even offering a $1,000 reward for hitting an opposing playerβs helmet with the ball. A video of the incident has reportedly circulated on social media, drawing widespread criticism.
PCB insiders stated that Multan Sultans used delaying tactics during the PSL valuation process and failed to provide timely input during official meetings. The notice also highlighted that the teamβs social media activities caused reputational harm to the league.
As per the PSL contract, no franchise is allowed to take actions that could harm the image or credibility of the league. The Multan Sultans termination notice reportedly reminded the team of these clauses, emphasizing the importance of maintaining professionalism.
Meanwhile, sources revealed that the ongoing PSL valuation process, which recorded a record 3.4 billion views during Season 10, is expected to conclude this week. Two new franchises are likely to join PSL Season 11, with the bidding process expected to wrap up by December.
In response, Multan Sultans criticized the PCBβs move, calling it an attempt to silence βconstructive criticism.β The team stated that its remarks were meant to push the PSL toward improvement and greater success. The franchise described the notice as βoutrageousβ and a sign of βpettiness within the current management.β
