The Pakistan men’s cricket team will wear a special pink-themed kit during the opening T20I against South Africa on October 28 at the Rawalpindi Cricket Stadium. The initiative is part of the Pakistan Cricket Board’s (PCB) campaign to raise awareness about breast cancer in collaboration with Pink Ribbon Pakistan.
According to the PCB, the entire stadium will “turn pink” for the occasion, marking a powerful gesture of support for women’s health. The match will also highlight the importance of early detection and screening through various awareness messages shared during the T20I broadcast.
The home side will wear specially designed pink-themed kits, while South African players and match officials will sport pink ribbons in solidarity. Commentators, broadcasters, and coaching staff will also take part by wearing pink ribbons during the game. Pink-branded stumps will be used to reinforce the campaign’s message throughout the fixture.
In partnership with the Pink Ribbon Breast Cancer Trust Hospital in Lahore, the PCB announced that free screenings and clinical examinations will be offered to the public on the same day.
PCB Chief Operating Officer Sumair Ahmed Syed said the initiative reflects the board’s dedication to social causes. “The Pakistan Cricket Board takes immense pride in using the power and reach of cricket to create awareness about issues that impact our society,” he stated.
He added that cricket can serve as a platform to spread hope and encourage preventive healthcare. “Through the Pink Ribbon campaign, we aim to promote early detection and regular screening for breast cancer, which can save many lives,” he said.
Pink Ribbon CEO Umar Aftab also praised the PCB’s collaboration, calling it a significant national effort. “We are grateful to the Pakistan Cricket Board for supporting this life-saving cause through this special T20I match,” he remarked.
