Sindh Govt Launches Second Phase of Pink Scooty Scheme for Women

The Sindh government has officially launched the second phase of the Pink Scooty Scheme to empower women through improved mobility and financial independence. The initiative, led by the Women Development Department (WDD), aims to provide affordable scooters to working women and students across the province.

According to officials, the second phase focuses on expanding the program to more districts, offering easy installment plans and subsidies. The scooters will be provided through transparent selection based on need, income, and employment requirements.

Sindh Minister for Women Development Sharmila Faruqui stated that the scheme is designed to support women in balancing work, education, and family responsibilities. β€œAccess to safe and independent transport is essential for women’s empowerment,” she emphasized.

The first phase of the Pink Scooty Scheme received an overwhelming response, with hundreds of women benefiting from subsidized motorcycles. The expansion aims to reach thousands of new beneficiaries, particularly in urban centers such as Karachi, Hyderabad, Sukkur, and Larkana.

Officials highlighted that the scheme not only promotes economic inclusion but also addresses safety concerns for women commuting daily. Training sessions for safe driving and road awareness will also be provided as part of the program.

The Sindh government’s initiative is part of a broader effort to create gender-inclusive public services and strengthen women’s participation in the workforce. The Pink Scooty Scheme has been widely appreciated as a progressive step toward women’s social and economic empowerment in Pakistan.
