The Punjab government has unveiled plans to build a unique Ship Restaurant on the Lahore Canal near Jallo to promote tourism and create new recreational opportunities in the provincial capital. The project is part of the governmentβs broader vision to enhance Lahoreβs appeal as a vibrant tourist destination.
The Parks and Horticulture Authority (PHA) Lahore has already invited tenders for the Ship Restaurant project, which has received formal approval from the provincial authorities. According to PHA Director General Raja Mansoor, the Ship Restaurant will be completed within the current fiscal year.
The floating-style restaurant will be developed directly on the canal, offering visitors a distinctive dining experience. Designed as a three-storey structure, it will feature a modern kitchen, ample parking space, and seating capacity for around 200 guests at a time. Entry will be free, and visitors will only pay for their meals.
To maintain high standards of food and service, the PHA plans to outsource the restaurantβs management to a well-known food chain. This approach aims to ensure consistent quality and professional operations while supporting the local hospitality sector.
DG Raja Mansoor described the Ship Restaurant as a milestone for Lahoreβs tourism and leisure landscape. He said the project would provide citizens and tourists with a new, scenic venue for relaxation and dining along the historic Lahore Canal.
The government believes the initiative will not only boost local tourism but also create job opportunities and encourage investment in recreational infrastructure. Once completed, the Ship Restaurant is expected to become a popular attraction for families and tourists visiting the city.
