Jay Klaitz, best known as the voice of Lester Crest in Grand Theft Auto V, has defended reports suggesting that GTA 6 could launch with a $100 price tag. He believes the game’s massive scale, advanced technology, and long development period make the cost reasonable.
In an interview with The Escapist on October 29, Klaitz praised Rockstar Games’ dedication to producing top-quality titles. He said creating a game like GTA 6 takes several years, combining motion-capture technology, complex storytelling, and post-launch updates. According to him, players are “almost buying multiple games when they buy one.”
“GTA V was so heavy on motion capture, and I assume GTA 6 will be the same,” Klaitz explained. He noted that Rockstar began working on the new title soon after GTA V was completed. The actor described how motion-capture sessions take place in detailed studio sets, where performers physically act out each movement, from walking through hallways to exiting cars. This process, he said, gives the characters a lifelike appearance.
Klaitz also acknowledged that a $100 price could be challenging for some gamers. “I understand the concerns about accessibility,” he said. “Maybe there’s a way to balance it out, but I believe this game deserves its price tag.”
Rockstar Games recently confirmed that GTA 6 will be released on May 26, 2026, for PlayStation 5 and Xbox Series X|S, with a PC version expected later. Fans can anticipate extensive online content and updates similar to those that kept GTA V active for years.
