Prime Minister Shehbaz Sharif arrived in Baku, Azerbaijan, on Friday to participate in the country’s Victory Day celebrations marking its triumph in the 2020 Nagorno-Karabakh conflict.
Upon arrival at Heydar Aliyev International Airport, the prime minister was warmly received by senior Azerbaijani officials and Pakistan’s Ambassador to Azerbaijan. The visit underscores the close and brotherly ties between the two nations, built on mutual respect and cooperation across various sectors.
During his stay, PM Shehbaz is expected to meet President Ilham Aliyev and discuss ways to strengthen bilateral trade, energy collaboration, and regional connectivity. The two leaders are also likely to review ongoing projects and explore new avenues of partnership, especially in the fields of energy, defence, and infrastructure.
Pakistan has consistently supported Azerbaijan on international platforms, including its stance on the Nagorno-Karabakh issue. The prime minister’s participation in the Victory Day events reflects Islamabad’s continued solidarity with Baku and its people.
